Horse Riding Tour itinerary in Western Mongolia

1. DAY Arrive in Ulaanbaatar. Meet your guide at the airport and drive to your Hotel. After few hours resting do city tour in Ulaanbaatar where you can visit Zaisan hill, Gandan monastery and local museums.

2. Day Arrive in Ulgii capital of Bayan-Ulgii province. Same day start driving to Altai Tavan Bogd national park and do camping in ‘White river valley” next to Tuvan nomadic families. It’s the most beautiful Milk River from glacier. Do camping along white river valley (Akh Gol ).

3. Day  Live your vehicle around the gate there and start horse riding towards Tavan Bogd massif (five holly peaks of Mongolia which is more than 4000m higher) next to that mountains you will see 20km long Potanin Glacier. You can even walk on the glacier. Camp just next to that glacier. You will have two humped camels for your luggage transportations to Glacier side.

4. Day After breakfast your guide will guide you to 4th highest peak of Mongolia “Malchin peak” which is more than 4000 meters higher from sea level. You can get easily on the top of that peak. From the top of Malchin you will have full view to Russian territory and long and breathtaking views to Kazakhstan’s and Chinese snowcapped Altai Mountains. Same day you will come back to your same camping spot.

5. Day Start horse riding back to the same gate of the park same way as day 2 with two humped camels. Do relaxing around and visit the ger of local Shaman, try local handmade Tuvan Nomadic vodka.

  • Accommodation: stay at the local Ger camp or tent .

6. Day Start horse riding to south of Altai Tavan Bogd national park. On the way you will stop for lunch .At the end of the day you will reach place called “Har Salaa”. This is most beautiful spot where Tuvan Nomads spend their summer.

7. Day Early morning start horse riding  to snowcapped Mountain and cross it to Bear Valley  where you will have lots of chances to see wild animals such as Black Bear, Red Dear, Marmots and Wolfs… Today we will trek over the Takhilt Pass which is one of the highest and steepest passes on our tour.( Altimeter: 3200) During the steep part of the trail, we ask you to hike and lead your horse, to be safe.  This is a place of untouched nature where it is only possible to go in the summertime from the middle of June to the end of August.

8. Day Today Start horse riding to south along the most beautiful white river about 3-4 hours and meet our vehicle at the end of the valley. . We will say goodbye to the camel herders and to your horses.  Lakes reach Akh su Valley where western Mongolian Kazakh nomads spend their summer. Visit families see how nomads make embroideries, and milk products. You will busy with photographing, and more exited. Camping just next to families. You can also compare differences of Kazakh and Tuvan nomadic lifestyle.

9. Day   you will do hiking through nomads to the beautiful waterfall. It is short hiking so it is better to enjoy you views on your way and even you can visit local nomads to experience different life. Come back at your same camping spot.

10. Day Start driving back to Ulgii town. On your way stop to see “Dear Stones” (rocks with face of human) or Bal-Bals and   Mongolian Tuvan throat singer and start driving to Eagle Hunter’s family.                         (If the Tuvan throat singer is at home)  Meet Eagle Hunter and meet his fantastic bird. Chat with Eagle Hunter ask for any questions that you want to… You can have a memorable picture with an eagle landed on your arm arrive in Ulgii. Have hot shower at your Hotel room. Dinner at one of local restaurant.
