Winter Tour itinerary in Western Mongolia

1 DAY Arrive in Ulgii (capital of Bayan-Ulgii province). Same day start driving to Altai Tavan Bogd national park and do camping in ‘White river valley” with the Tuvan nomadic families. Western Mongolia is home to the majestic Altai Mountains, which are breathtakingly beautiful in winter. With snow-covered peaks and serene valleys, this region is perfect for horse riding and and even winter trekking.

2 DAY Early morning after breakfast your horse guide will bring you horses, so you start horse riding from that Altai Tavan Bogd mountains. On the way visit a giant stone with ancient petroglyphs from the Bronze Age.

3 Day Visit to the Kazakh Nomads Start driving to Eagle Hunter’s family. The Kazakh herders in Mongolia are known for their centuries-old traditions of eagle hunting, and winter is the perfect time to witness this extraordinary skill . . On your way stop to Mongolian Tuvan throat singer ( If the Tuvan throat singer is at home) Meet Eagle Hunter and meet his fantastic bird. Chat with Eagle Hunter ask for any questions that you want to. Have dinner together with the family. This includes tasting delicious local dishes such as besbarmak (a meat and noodle dish) and enjoying their warm, hearty meals while learning about the rich history and culture of the Kazakh people.

4 Day Start hunting with eagle, discuss with Eagle hunter about which direction to choose and why?!.. Follow the Eagle hunter and be with him until the end of th day. Hunt with Eagle. Learn how to make Eagle land on your arm! See how Eagle Hunter makes ready his bird for hunting (how he trains etc.). See his hunting outfit. Learn how to hold the bird on your arm during the hunting. Learn how to carry the bird on the horse.

5 Day Say goodbye to Eagle Hunter’s family. Drive back to Ulgii, and stay at the local Hotel. Have dinner at Local restaurant. While you are having dinner you will enjoy Kazakh traditional folk Music (live).
